Lost in the Post

I think all my invites to NYFW must have got lost in the post or something. Maybe its all the snow they have been experiencing because I am still in England waiting. I am joking of course, but while we are on the topic, with so many of my favorite fashion bloggers and magazines posting minute by minute updates online and on instagram, you don't really need to get dressed or leave bed to be on F-row. Since my invitations seem to be 'missing in the post' I had some time to kill, so I decided to hit my usual haunts and took a few pics of WIWT. Right, I'm off to go look for the postman or hang around my mail box... Am I coming off as desperate?

The bare appeal

Its funny, when I am getting dressed I always find my outfits look better with bare legs. Take todays outfit for example, if I had added a simple pair of black tights it would have pulled the whole outfit down and made it rather bland. But by simply opting for bare skin it draws your eyes to the detail on my shoes and my skirt. I do see the appeal of tights when it is freezing, and I haven't lost my mind I would pick warmth over pnueamonia any day, but today wasn't too chilly. The jumper I am wearing is one I managed to grab in the sale from Gap and I absolutely love it! I know the word 'love' is a term massively over used especially by bloggers, but honestly, don't be surprised if it pops up more than once... The jumper I mean, not the word 'love'.

Bargain Hunt

This season I have fallen in love with the Celine print and although it is way out of my price range, I managed to find this amazing dress in a similar print for £26 pounds. Such a bargain!! What do you think?

Anything to add?

I think everything you could probably write about black has already been written, but that's not going stop me writing something else about the colour. For a colour that is so simple to wear it seems to get a bad rep sometimes, almost as if its simplicity is something we should frown upon. Lately I have been drawn to a lot of black clothing and it is usually when I am extremely busy. It's just so easy to get it right when you are wearing all black. Should I be punished for what some might call a lack of imagination? Believe me, I do this myself sometimes when I find myself in a full black outfit. I feel like I have failed to make an effort, but after saying this, when you think about it, it is in fact the effortlessness of the colour that makes the outfit chic. Take, for example, Marc Jacobs final show for Louis Vuitton in Paris. Nearly the entire collection was made up of black and I defy anyone not to find at least one piece they would not wear, and why is that? Well, apart from the amazing design, it has to be the colour, it really is the colour everyone can wear. For me, when I wear a full black outfit I try to add contrast through texture. Which is what I did today, by adding a thick knit roll neck Jumper from H&M with one of their faux alligator style leather skirts. What do you think to the colour black? Does it bore you, or ignite your imagination when you get dressed?

Keeping it Casual

It's Sunday, it's a day of rest and in my case eating... So as a result, the stretchy pants are on and I am raring to go/eat. Oh, also, what do you think of my version of the Celine sneakers? As I don't have a couple of hundred pounds knocking around to buy a pair I decided to pay 10 pounds for a version from Matalan! Enjoy your Sunday!

Camouflage

One trend I absolutely love this season is camouflage. And if I could afford the whole Whistles collection I would snap it up straight away... especially the parka. Unfortunately for me, it looks like others have had the same idea and snapped the parka up before I even had the chance to click the 'add to cart' button. In the mean time I have been trolling the internet for a camouflage alternative to quench my thirst, and much to my delight, ASOS have provided that much needed drink. After searching the websites many options, I decided to go with a dress, due to fact that I can layer it under jumpers and style it many different ways, which is perfect for the coming winter months. The dress itself hangs loose, think/Google Victoria Beckham's s/s 14 grey peplum dress and you get the idea. If your not to sure on the fit, but you like the dress, I would suggest going for a size smaller than you usually buy. For the rest of the outfit I simply added some black ankle boots which are from... PRIMARK. I write it bold because, up until recently I was one of those poor souls who was inflicted with 'Neverfindanythinginthereitis'. Literally, I would come out with a pair of socks and that would be it. So I was pleasantly surprised when I found something I like in my size and for just 18 pounds... such a bargain.
