Return of the Rebel
Can there ever be a rebellion in fashion again? Or has every new trend been done, a slightly more modern twist added to the original, but still the basis of the trend remains. The main trend that springs to mind when I think of rebellion is grunge, but how many times can a fashion designer reference Kurt Cobain, youth and plaid shirts before it is essentially a re-run of a few seasons ago. An example of this is Saint Laurent, although the collection is amazing, I think the fashion world expected a little more than a re-run. Especially since the change to the legendary fashion house' name and the promise of a new modern take on the brand. But how modern can the 90's be? Especially when its already, well, been the 90's, and its already been covered more then a few times after that. Sometimes calling something a rebellion can doom it to fail. How are you rebelling if its already been done?
Fashion each season is already a rebellion as it stretches our perception of what to wear, its progressive and rebels against the norm. So with that point, every new season is a rebellion and no one trend can really be labelled this. In keeping with the topic of this post I decided to wear all black and rebel against the 90's grunge plaid shirt. What do you think of the rebel trend? Do you feel its just a re-run of previous seasons?

Grunge
Isn’t the grungy look so easy to get right? Today I literally threw on a black dress I found in a charity shop, my boyfriends shirt and a pair of shoe boots and I was good to go!! I can understand why Mary Kate loves it so much and more recently Miley Cyrus, its almost like a coming of age trend. Maybe it looks so good because it consists largely of black clothing? I think it also works well as a look because it's so effortless to put together. But the girls that really get it right are the ones with the ‘don’t give a shit’ aire about them! Basically, it just looks cool! So here I am trying to look like a don't give a damn!

P.s I know I said I would post about my D.I.Y project today but I decided to make it into a video so it's easier and funnier to watch. I promise it will be posted on my blog this week!
