How playful is the playsuit?
How playful are playsuits, overalls or jumpsuits? Whatever you call them, they all have one thing in common, they are one of the most impractical fashion items EVERRRR! Oh, how boring of me to point this out, but they are! It is essentially a piece of clothing adapted for adults from children's wear and I bet most parents would probably agree they are even a pain in the arse for kids! Why the recent onslaught on a piece of clothing that is essentially a onesie? Probably because, in a moment of weakness in the sales I bought another pair. No, I am obviously not content with struggling with just one pair, so I decided to buy a pair of green leather ones as well. Now I don't regret this buy, not for a minute, and what is good for Alexa Chung or Lendra Medine (man repeller) is certainly good for me. But I always seem to forget while in the changing rooms, posing in the mirror or while happily handing over my card at the till just how time consuming this item actually is. Okay, you may be confused at this point, your probably thinking 'its a pair of overalls, what is her problem, like a dress they are easy to style, you can layer it with other items, pop a simple t-shirt or jumper underneath and your good to go'. But thats where you would be wrong and where I seem to go wrong. There is a hell of a lot of maintenance that goes in to this item of clothing. I shall begin (cough). Number one; the strap length issue... Too tight/short and you can suddenly hit a higher note and have a lovely camel toe (sorry) to complement your new singing prowess, if however, the straps are too loose/long you look like you have 3 breasts, sort of like the lady out of Total recall (the 1990's version). Then there is the whole toilet situation as you have to practically get undressed to go. I often find myself pre-empting when I possibly might need to urinate, call me a loser, but really, you cant do the last minute dash, its a full on bondage experience getting in and out, I am talking 10mins at least! Maybe playsuits, overalls, jumpsuits whatever you call them are the real reason for female water infections... Nice thought I know, but the amount of times I have crossed my legs a little tighter when wearing a playsuit to avoid the toilet undressing saga, well lets just say, I have lost count. And if that last point wasn't enough to put you off entirely, I have one final point. There is the not so graceful rearranging of yourself every time you decide to sit down, the whole... pulling and tugging at every area, definitely not a good look. After all thats said and done I still love them. I just feel velcrow jumpsuits would probably go down a lot better. Im feeling a sort of, superman, rip them off in one go sort of thing. Maybe, after reading this back, I am simply lazy.
Whats your opinion on playsuits/overalls/jumpsuits?

Magazine Feature
It would appear I am in Look Magazine this week and I can only apologise that you have to see my ugly mug splashed all over your fashion mag. Maybe I should make like Batman or Lady Gaga and buy a mask? The outfit picture they have used is from a WIWT post (details of my outfit is on the link).

Return of the Rebel
Can there ever be a rebellion in fashion again? Or has every new trend been done, a slightly more modern twist added to the original, but still the basis of the trend remains. The main trend that springs to mind when I think of rebellion is grunge, but how many times can a fashion designer reference Kurt Cobain, youth and plaid shirts before it is essentially a re-run of a few seasons ago. An example of this is Saint Laurent, although the collection is amazing, I think the fashion world expected a little more than a re-run. Especially since the change to the legendary fashion house' name and the promise of a new modern take on the brand. But how modern can the 90's be? Especially when its already, well, been the 90's, and its already been covered more then a few times after that. Sometimes calling something a rebellion can doom it to fail. How are you rebelling if its already been done?
Fashion each season is already a rebellion as it stretches our perception of what to wear, its progressive and rebels against the norm. So with that point, every new season is a rebellion and no one trend can really be labelled this. In keeping with the topic of this post I decided to wear all black and rebel against the 90's grunge plaid shirt. What do you think of the rebel trend? Do you feel its just a re-run of previous seasons?

Chic or Lazy?
Black, the chicest or the laziest colour to wear? I love the colour black it suits everyone no matter your body shape, it is also the easiest colour to wear to most events. But, I do often find myself relying on the colour when I cannot afford to deliberate or spend time choosing an outfit. This is why you could call black a lazy colour as little or no thought is required when wearing it. Am I being to harsh on the colour? Or is it in fact, one of the only effortless colours that should indeed be praised for its simplicity? Well, I agree with both statements yes, black can be a lazy colour and often I do rely on it when I cannot be bothered to pick something fancy to wear. But, this in itself is a testament to a colour that can look so good all the time and with such little effort. Isn't effortless something most people strive for? Lets not forget you can always add texture to an outfit with different material of the same colour. This was indeed one of those days. I had little time to choose an outfit, to add texture I wore leather pants and added colour a bright splash of red to break it up.

Leather friends
I stare at my leather skirt with a fond expression, it has definitely become like a friend, popping in and out of my closet like its come round for coffee and a catch up. I do love it, we always have the best time together. I think the main reason we get on so well is the fact that it is simple and yet, the leather material makes an outfit seem totally different, oh, and not forgetting its sense of humour. This leather friend of mine is a well travelled piece of clothing. It has helped me 'paint the town red' and given a simple Monday outfit a bit of a lift. My leather friend is very well connected and knows leather skirts of all different colours and lengths. Today I decided I needed a catch up with my leather friend and so I teamed it with a cable knit Jumper and we went out for a lovely winter walk together. Do you have a piece of clothing that feels like an old friend?
