How playful is the playsuit?
How playful are playsuits, overalls or jumpsuits? Whatever you call them, they all have one thing in common, they are one of the most impractical fashion items EVERRRR! Oh, how boring of me to point this out, but they are! It is essentially a piece of clothing adapted for adults from children's wear and I bet most parents would probably agree they are even a pain in the arse for kids! Why the recent onslaught on a piece of clothing that is essentially a onesie? Probably because, in a moment of weakness in the sales I bought another pair. No, I am obviously not content with struggling with just one pair, so I decided to buy a pair of green leather ones as well. Now I don't regret this buy, not for a minute, and what is good for Alexa Chung or Lendra Medine (man repeller) is certainly good for me. But I always seem to forget while in the changing rooms, posing in the mirror or while happily handing over my card at the till just how time consuming this item actually is. Okay, you may be confused at this point, your probably thinking 'its a pair of overalls, what is her problem, like a dress they are easy to style, you can layer it with other items, pop a simple t-shirt or jumper underneath and your good to go'. But thats where you would be wrong and where I seem to go wrong. There is a hell of a lot of maintenance that goes in to this item of clothing. I shall begin (cough). Number one; the strap length issue... Too tight/short and you can suddenly hit a higher note and have a lovely camel toe (sorry) to complement your new singing prowess, if however, the straps are too loose/long you look like you have 3 breasts, sort of like the lady out of Total recall (the 1990's version). Then there is the whole toilet situation as you have to practically get undressed to go. I often find myself pre-empting when I possibly might need to urinate, call me a loser, but really, you cant do the last minute dash, its a full on bondage experience getting in and out, I am talking 10mins at least! Maybe playsuits, overalls, jumpsuits whatever you call them are the real reason for female water infections... Nice thought I know, but the amount of times I have crossed my legs a little tighter when wearing a playsuit to avoid the toilet undressing saga, well lets just say, I have lost count. And if that last point wasn't enough to put you off entirely, I have one final point. There is the not so graceful rearranging of yourself every time you decide to sit down, the whole... pulling and tugging at every area, definitely not a good look. After all thats said and done I still love them. I just feel velcrow jumpsuits would probably go down a lot better. Im feeling a sort of, superman, rip them off in one go sort of thing. Maybe, after reading this back, I am simply lazy.
Whats your opinion on playsuits/overalls/jumpsuits?

Who do you think you are?
So, I will begin (brace yourselves)... Who do Topshop think they are!? Obviously, I know they are a high-street clothes shop, but lately I have started to wonder if they know that any more? My rant/opinion like many of my previous posts has come as a result of a personal experience. This particular post has come after spending many hours yesterday 'screen shopping' (the internet version of window shopping) and after searching for Christmas gifts for my girlfriends I decided on the rational, two for them, one for me. Which, I think, is a perfect Christmas present ratio. After deciding on a treat in the form of a bag I started to browse Topshop's many lovely offerings until I came across bag costing... £700!? After checking I had my contact lenses in right I re-read the price again. 'Yeap' to my shock I had read it right! Yes, the bag is part of the 'Unique collection' and has been featured on the Topshop runway, but that doesn't mean its any good. Like I have said in many of my blog posts I am not naive, I recognise that fashion is a business, but since when did Topshop begin to neglect there 'bread and butter' customers and start to think they are in the same league as more established brands such as Mulberry, which has the heritage, and therefore, the credentials to charge that? I understand that Topshop employ designers, but I feel I would be more likely (if I could afford to) to buy something from a 'virgining' talent than a massive company with faceless designers. I know that is quite hypocritical of me as I do happily buy pieces from Topshop's lower price bracket, but that's the nature of highstreet fashion. I feel with £700 sorts of prices they are playing with 'the big boys', the luxury brands who have 'covertable' pieces, and again, I am not discrediting the designers who work there, more the cheek of Topshop to think they can demand that sort of money. Maybe, its the way the items are placed on the website with all the other handbags? Maybe there should be a high end page, or a separate website altogether to make the item feel more luxurious and worth the money? I also think it speaks volumes when there is a no reviews on a piece. Don't get me wrong, I love Topshop and I love the high-end feeling you
get from some of their pieces. I also really love the aesthetics of their ad campaigns, but I feel they should remember first and foremost they are a high street store. There is nothing wrong with striving, but perhaps I would respect the expensive pieces more if they gave the designers name on each piece. I sort of feel like 'unique' is such a general and 'blah' way to describe some seriously talented people. Maybe I am letting my inner hippy out and I am trying to 'stick it to the man' as I feel Topshop are sort of sucking designers and their creativity up and spitting them out. Perhaps I am totally wrong (it wouldn't be the first time), maybe Topshop is nurturing designers and giving them a valuable platform they never would of had? Or maybe its just a business and if your shit sells you don't need a name. Does it just boil down to money? What do you think about High-street stores charging High-end prices? Finally and totally unrelated to the post here is WIWT.

Leather friends
I stare at my leather skirt with a fond expression, it has definitely become like a friend, popping in and out of my closet like its come round for coffee and a catch up. I do love it, we always have the best time together. I think the main reason we get on so well is the fact that it is simple and yet, the leather material makes an outfit seem totally different, oh, and not forgetting its sense of humour. This leather friend of mine is a well travelled piece of clothing. It has helped me 'paint the town red' and given a simple Monday outfit a bit of a lift. My leather friend is very well connected and knows leather skirts of all different colours and lengths. Today I decided I needed a catch up with my leather friend and so I teamed it with a cable knit Jumper and we went out for a lovely winter walk together. Do you have a piece of clothing that feels like an old friend?
