I think I have always had a bit of a soft spot for the tartan skirt. It's an item that reminds of traditional private English schools, while at the same time it reminds me of rebellion, the punk scene and of course, Vivienne Westwood. It's undoubtably a classic and a wardrobe staple because it doesn't matter how many seasons go by, and by seasons I mean trends, we always manage to arrive back at the great tartan skirt. I didn't go to private school and so I am a little jealous of anyone who has one still hung in there wardrobe full of school memories of rebellion. The tartan skirt I am wearing today is from Topshop and although it lacks a rebellious back story it does have its origins in punk and I am sure after a few seasons of loitering around my wardrobe it will have a few rebellious stories to tell.
