Clashing

Clashing prints... I am still not over it, especially when this whole outfit cost me under £25 pounds, I do love H&M. I know clashing prints isn't exactly a new trend, but that doesn't mean I am not going to rock it. One tip I would give, espically if you aren't sure, is keep the colour palate similar. Just give it a try, if it looks totally shocking, don't wear it again... Simple.

The Chop and Crop

The chop and crop... My title sounds more like a back of the paper ad for circumcision. Let me ensure any male readers now sitting crossed legged or females readers heading for the nearest Esc button that I am not, talking about circumcision. I am talking about my apparent new love of all things shorter... well, hair and jumpers at least. That's right, I decided to 'chop' 4 inches off my hair. Although I love my new hair cut if I had the balls I would have maybe gone an inch shorter (baby steps guys). I don't know about you but when I get my hair cut I always seem to get a sudden feeling of panic like 'oh god what have I done' and I immediately look to the hairdressers floor and think  'will anybody be able tell if I glued my hair back on?'. And then, just as I am about to grab my lost lengths, in swoops the Saturday girl with a her sweeping brush, and after months/years of love maintenance its gone, 'puff', in the bin. I think she did me a favour really. I like my hairdresser, but I feel rolling around on the floor covered in your old hair would sort of put the brakes on me returning again. I suppose it didn't help that I had just taken outfit pictures on Friday morning, and so I had a constant reminder while I uploaded the pictures to my blog and wrote a post. I did contemplate dedicating Fridays post to my hair, but its always been dead 'ba dum tish'. I know, terrible joke... Sorry, I am mourning, humour helps me cope. I suppose when it comes to hair 'the grass is always greener' or shorter in this case. Contrary to my above babbling I am really happy with my hair, and for the crop part of my post, well, I bought this lovely cropped jumper in the sale from Zara. I have a bit of a thing for cropped at the moment.
Now the brave part... what is your opinion of my hair?

Pretty Woman

The over the knee boot is this winters go to footwear, but how can you wear them without the pretty woman subtext? Aka; looking like a hooker! It is a real shame, as they so elegantly provide a sleek line to compliment your outfit while rather practically keeping you warm. They are sort of like a control pant for your lower limbs. Have I sold you on this trend yet? Really... The control pant and hooker spiel didn't win you over? I do actually really love over the knee boots and socks despite my previous jibes, they are incredibly easy to wear and they really can be worn with everything. The boots I am wearing with today’s outfit don’t quite come over the knee so I have simply added over the knee black socks to give the same effect. I think one of the main reasons I enjoy wearing these boots in winter is because it’s a change from tights which, can be less than appealing sometimes. There is really nothing I hate more, or is less attractive, than having to stop every five steps to hike your crotch back up into position and lets face it, we have all had to do the ‘tight dance’ at some point. Although recently, one of my friends commented saying 'You should always wear tights with these boots to avoid the pretty woman comment', but I think she is wrong the whole point of the boots is to add drama. Now, after preaching about not looking like a prostitute I should of perhaps not have taken these pictures on a street corner. For me the over the knee boot adds a hint of sex appeal in an otherwise oversized and 'Mannish' dominated season.
What do you think of over the knee boots or do you think they are slightly more street corner then high end?

Bargain Hunt

This season I have fallen in love with the Celine print and although it is way out of my price range, I managed to find this amazing dress in a similar print for £26 pounds. Such a bargain!! What do you think?

Peacocking

How time flies. Okay I am only 24 and by no means old, but sometimes I look back at the outfits I wore a mere year ago and cringe a little. As I have grown wiser (sounds better then older), my tastes have changed, especially my taste in fashion.
Currently, I am in the process of moving to a new apartment and during this rather boring process my friend and I came across some pictures from university. Lets just say, they were hidden in a box at the back my wardrobe for a very good reason. But nevertheless, it provided us with a good laugh. Although we had a good laugh at my expense I will never regret what I wore, I just find myself thinking how much my tastes have changed and how I wouldn't wear it now.
The term 'peacocking' (google it) springs to mind when I look back at these pictures. Being younger and less confident both with my appearance and opinions I can definitely say clothes were a way of expressing myself, especially as I had not developed a confidence to voice my opinion. Fashion in this instance gave me the courage and I definitely credit it amongst other things in building my self esteem. Don't get me wrong, I have never been a shrinking violet, but that doesn't mean I don't have insecurities. As I grow up I feel I have become more self assured and find I don't dress to gain a reaction or attention as much any more.
Although, some of the outfits I wear now maybe described by others as 'peacocking', I feel they best reflect my confidence. With age I also find myself appreciating the cut of a trouser or the statement a simple outfit can make. I think I just want to become Parisian... Well some days I do, other days I enjoy the eccentricity of English street style. I also find an increase in how I am using my heels, for example; they used to be saved for evenings out with girlfriends, now I have no fear in wearing them with a simple outfit. Today was such a day.
Has your style changed or adapted with age? Or are you still rocking the same look?
