The Reinvention Game.

In a season currently awash with nostalgic looks from the 60's and 70's I find myself a little overwhelmed and drawn back to the simplicity of black. With designer's taking inspiration from previous era's I often wonder what trend will our generation be infamous for? Nudity perhaps? Each era in time seems to have some form of identity, the 60's had the mini skirt, the 70's had the currently 'oh so fashionable' flares, even the 90's had the grunge look, but what have we, 'our' generation brought to the table? Perhaps it's not the invention of a new trend but maybe an advancement in technology from the way materials are made to the way we engage in fashion. There used to be a point when we would have to wait a full season to see the trend trickle slowly onto the high-streets, but now they seem to appear instantaneously as if the high-street had spy's inside the design houses. All of this fueled by the increase in technology we are aware of anything and everything now as soon as it happens. Perhaps another big trend to appear is 'street style', but again this phenomenon is wholly down to the increase in technology. Perhaps I am wrong and I have missed a trend totally, however, most modern trends in my opinion are a new spin on an old one. Is it possible that in such a creative industry as fashion there are no more new ideas, just reinventions and re-tweaks? Or perhaps that is true creativity to see and make something new out of something old? I mean, Karl's been doing just that with the bloody Chanel tweed jacket for years.

  1. I totallllly agree with you. I always feel nostalgic for times-gone-by when something comes back into fashion.. Like I missed out on it the first time round and it's just not quite the same! I guess we should try and stop following trends so religiously and just wear whatever the hell we feel like.

Love the shoes by the way!
